2010 RULES AND REGULATIONS

Eligibility & Participation

  • Participation in this tournament is open to any league bowler who qualifies under Rule 1.
  • Participation in this tournament is open to any bowler who is a member in good standing of an adult league in a member center of the Bowling Proprietors Association of the Carolinas/Georgia during the 2009-2010, with a minimum of 30 games as of April 1, 2010.
  • Participation in the tournament is open to any bowler who is not An exempt PBA member.  Not more than two standard or regional PBA members are permitted to bowl per team.

Handicap

  • Handicap at the In-center AND Association Finals will be 100% of 230.

Averages

  • Averages used to determine handicap will be the HIGHEST of the following:
  • The highest current verifiable average of 21 games or more as of April 1, 2010.
  • The highest 2008-2009 verifiable average of 21 games or more.
  • Sport shot average conversion if only bowling in a sport shot league.
  • Bowlers without one of  the averages (3 a,b,c) must bowl scratch (230).
  • Possible re-rating: Bowlers who have won cash or merchandise prizes of $500.00 or more in any tournament within the last 12 month (4/1/09 to 3/31/10) period must give the tournament manager the following information:
  • Name of tournament in which he/she has been paid such a prize, or if not paid, has qualified for such a prize.
  • The amount of the prize.
  • Any bowler who has been re-rated by any tournament or association must inform the tournament director and the tournament committee of his/her re-rating.  Any bowler who has refused re-rating or has been disqualified must report this before bowling and will be subject to re-rating or denial of entry in this tournament.  These must be reported to the tournament committee at every level of competition in this tournament for re-rating consideration.
  • The Tournament Director has the right to re-rate or disqualify a bowler at any time for failure to comply with the tournament average rules.
  • The Tournament Director reserves the right to assign a higher average for any bowler at the Association Finals.  If assigned average is not accepted by the bowler, the entry fee will be refunded.

Entry Fee – In-Center Level

  •   $120 per team (4-bowler teams) -- $30 per bowler ($18 prize fund, $8.00 lineage at in-center level, $4 expense fee (includes $2 for team lineage at Association Finals). 

In-Center Qualifying

  •  Any combination of four eligible bowlers from any adult league in a BPAC/GA member house (rule 1) may comprise a team at the In-Center level.

Multiple Participation

  • Bowlers may compete more than once in the Association Finals   provided they meet all eligibility requirements under Rule 1.  However, the same team cannot advance to the Association Finals…minimum of two bowlers must be changed and must have qualified for advancement from the In-Center level.
  • At the association finals, can only bowl as many times as there are squads

Legal Line-Up at Association Finals

  •  A minimum of two bowlers from the four-bowler team that qualified at the In-center level of competition constitute a legal line-up. 
  • Substitutes are permitted at the Association Finals provided they meet all eligibility requirements under rule 1 AND have bowled in the in-center level of this tournament on a team.

In-Center Format

  • In-center roll-off competition may be conducted starting April 1, 2010 and must be concluded by May 9, 2010.
  • The in-center competition will consist of three games with pinfall    plus handicap determining those that advance.
  • One out of every four teams will advance to the Association Finals (fractions being dropped).
  • Copy of the In-center finals standing sheet must be forwarded with the entry blanks and fees for those teams advancing to the Association Finals.
  • In the case of a tie for the last qualifying spot, a one-game rolloff will be held, and if needed, repeated until the tie is broken.

Association Finals Format

  •  All eligible teams advancing from their respective In-Center rolloffs will compete in the Association Finals. Bowl three games, with total pinfall plus handicap determining the order of finish.
     First place at Association Finals $4000 per team. .Every Association Finals Team will cash.
  • The BPAC/GA Team Championship Finals will be held the weekend of June 5-6, 2010 at  Buffaloe Lanes North, 5900 Oak Forest Road, Raleigh, NC 27616.
  • Squad Times for Association Finals ---         
    • Saturday, June 5, 2010 – 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m, 6 p.m.
    • Sunday, June 6, 2010   - 9:30 a.m., 12 noon, 3 p.m.

General Playing Rules

  • The Bowling Proprietors Association of the Carolinas/Georgia will   administer the tournament through a Tournament Director appointed by the BPAC/GA Tournament Committee.
  • All matters not covered by these rules and regulations will be determined by the Tournament Director.  All decisions will be final.
  • The tournament will be conducted in accordance with the general playing rules of the United States Bowling Congress where BPAC/GA rules are not specified.
  •   Any owner or employee of any bowling establishment may participate in their own center if eligible. 

Association Finals Entry Fees

  • None 
    • Note – Each participating center must forward $88.00 per team advancing to the Association Finals ($22.00 per bowler) from the in-center entry fee.

Ties

  •  In the event of ties at the Association Finals, prize money will be split among those teams.
