Monday Owls 2008-2009

Rule 1. SCHEDULE

The Monday Owls bowling league will not be sanctioned with the USBC through their local associations. The league shall consist of 6 teams with a playing strength of 3 per team, with a ratio of any. The league will bowl on Mondays for 35 weeks commencing on August 25th 2008 and ending on April 20th,2009. All scheduled matches will start promptly at 1:00pm. Practice will begin at 12:45pm.

Rule 2. MANAGEMENT

The management of this league shall be vested in the board of directors, which shall consist of the officers and team captains. The league membership shall elect officers and the board of directors shall adopt the league rules. A majority shall constitute a quorum.

Rule 3. SALARIES

The salaries to be paid to the secretary-treasurer, shall be $0.50 per person per night, and shall be paid at the completion of the league schedule. Full payment shall not be authorized until the secretary has furnished to the secretaries of both the men’s and women’s local associations all average sheets requested by them, including the final average sheet.

Rule 4. FEES

The amount to be paid by each bowler each day shall be $8.00 of which $6.00 will cover the cost of bowling, with the balance to be placed in the league treasury. League fees must be paid the day of bowling. This league is not guaranteed. Substitutes pay $6.00.

Rule 5. LEAGUE FUNDS

An account shall be opened in the name of the league in the Buffaloe Lanes In House Banking, in which funds will be deposited weekly. Withdrawals from the account shall be made only with the joint signatures of at least two authorized officers of the league.

Rule 6. ENTERING AVERAGES

Bowlers will establish averages after their first complete 3 game series in this league.

Rule 7. HANDICAP

The handicap shall be 100 and shall be based on the difference between each individual’s average and a scratch figure of 200. The team handicap for each scheduled match shall be the total of the individual handicaps of the players in the lineup.

Rule 8. TEAM ROSTERS

Captains will turn in rosters of team members to the secretary prior to the start of the schedule. Rosters will be limited to 3 players. Any roster changes must be reported to the league secretary prior to the new team member bowling.

Rule 9. SUBSTITUTES

A list of roving or floating substitutes shall be maintained by the league. No one may bowl with more than one team for the regularly scheduled games each week. Subs will not be allowed the last week of bowling.

Rule 10. LEGAL LINE-UP

A minimum legal line-up must include at least 1 players from a team’s current roster.

Rule 11. FORFEITURES

When a game is declared forfeited, the team present shall bowl as though the game was actually contested. When a team fails to have a minimum legal line-up, the opposing team must bowl within 30 pins of the current average in order to win points by forfeiture. Points not won for failing to bowl prescribed score will not be credited to either team.

Rule 12. ABSENTEE AND VACANCY SCORES

Absentee score shall be the absent member’s average. The handicap shall be figured on the actual average of the absentee. When a team does not have enough players on its roster for a full line-up a vacancy score of 120 shall be used. Such a score shall be the basis of the handicap.

Rule 13. POSTPONEMENTS

A committee shall be appointed to determine what is sufficient cause to grant a postponement. In emergencies, the captain of the team unable to attend shall notify the opposing team captain and/or secretary or president of the league at the earliest opportunity. All request for postponements shall be filed with the board of directors, except those caused by emergencies.

Rule 14. BOWLING UNOPPOSED

Unopposed bowling will not be allowed.NO PRE-BOWLING NO POST-BOWLING ALLOWED.

Rule 15. TARDY PLAYERS

A bowler who arrives late may enter the game provided 3 frames have not been completed. Frames missed may be made up.

Rule 16. POSITION STANDINGS

Standings shall be determined on a point basis, with 1 points awarded for each game won and 1 point for the high team series in each match.

Rule 17. WITHDRAWLS

Any member or team must give 2 weeks notice (written) to the captain and league secretary. The bowler must pay 2 weeks fee unless replaced by another bowler within that period. The Board of Directors provided that (A) No arrears exist may refund a member’s fees and (B) A replacement shall have prepaid 2 weeks bowling fees. The league will absorb any arrears because of loss of a team member.

Rule 18. PLAY-OFFS

Total pins with handicap in a series of 1 game shall determine the winners of any play-off for first place. All other positions will be determined by games won for the season.
