Junior Scratch Classic League Rules
Rule 1. SCHEDULE
The Junior Scratch Classic bowling league shall be sanctioned with the USBC through its local association. The league shall consist of 8 teams with a playing strength of 2 per team, with a ratio of any. The league will bowl on Mondays for 32 weeks commencing on 9/8/08 and ending on 5/4/2009. All scheduled matches will start promptly at 6:30 PM. There will be no bowling on 12/8/08, 12/22/08 or 12/29/08. If Wake County schools are out due to weather there will be no bowling. If schools are delayed, check with the center to see if you will be bowling that night.
Rule 2. MANAGEMENT
The management of this league shall be vested in the board of directors, which shall consist of the officers and team captains. The league membership shall elect officers and the board of directors shall adopt the league rules. A majority shall constitute a quorum.
Rule 3. SALARIES
The salaries to be paid to the secretary-treasurer shall be waived.
Rule 4. FEES
The amount to be paid by each bowler each night shall be $11.00 of which $9.25 will cover the cost of bowling, with the balance to be placed in the league treasury. This league is guaranteed. Each member before completion of the 5th week of the schedule shall pay the bowling fees for the last 2 weeks. If you are absent you are still responsible for paying $11.00. You may not be more than 1 week in arrears.
Rule 5. LEAGUE FUNDS
An account shall be opened in the name of the league in the in house banking, in which funds will be deposited weekly.
Rule 6. PRIZES
The president shall appoint a committee of three members to draw up a prize list. The prize list must be approved by the board of directors and distributed to each team captain within 6 weeks after the start of the schedule. To qualify for individual awards, a bowler must have bowled in at least two-thirds of the scheduled games. The individual awards are as follows: high average, high scratch series/game, most improved and points leader. All money shall be awarded as scholarship deposited into the SMART Account.
Rule 7. ENTERING AVERAGES
Bowlers will use their highest 07/08-yearbook average. If no 07/08 average then bowler will have to use highest 2008 summer average.
Rule 8. TEAM ROSTERS
Rosters will be limited to 2 players

Rule 9. SUBSTITUTES
The league shall maintain a list of roving or floating substitutes. No one may bowl with more than one team for the regularly scheduled games each week. Subs are not allowed to bowl in any of the position rounds, as well as the roll-off week.
Rule 10. LEGAL LINE-UP
A minimum legal line-up must include at least 1 player from a team’s current roster.
Rule 11. FORFEITURES
When a game is declared forfeited, the team present shall bowl as though the game was actually contested. When a team fails to have a minimum legal line-up, the opposing team must bowl within 20 pins of the current average in order to win points by forfeiture. Points not won for failing to bowl prescribed score will not be credited to either team.
Rule 12. ABSENTEE AND VACANCY SCORES
Absentee score shall be the absent member’s average less ten pins. When a team does not have enough players on its roster for a full line-up a vacancy score of 180 shall be used. After three (3) consecutive unpaid and non-subbed absences a bowler’s score will revert to a vacancy score.
Rule 13. POSTPONEMENTS
In emergencies, the captain of the team/person unable to attend shall notify the opposing team captain and/or secretary or president of the league at the earliest opportunity. A team/individual may pre-bowl as many times as needed during the course of the league schedule, but no post-bowls are allowed. Buffaloe Lanes Cary does not allow any pre-bowling from Friday afternoons at 5:00 PM until Sunday evenings at 6:00 PM, no exceptions.
Rule 14. BOWLING UNOPPOSED
Team & individual unopposed bowling will be allowed. Pre-bowling only. No post-bowling is allowed.
Rule 15. TARDY PLAYERS
A bowler who arrives late may enter the game provided 4 frames have not been completed. Frames missed may be made up.
Rule 16. POSITION STANDINGS
Standings shall be determined on a point basis, with 1 point awarded for each game won and 2 points for series in individual match play and 2 points for team game and 4 points for total team series in each match – Total of 20 points. The team that is lower in the standings will be allowed to change their line-up to match their opposition for the scheduled match except for the first night. On the first night, the team on the right will be allowed to enter their lineup after the team on the left has entered their lineup. Total points determine team positions for the year. Teams must be in direct competition for the roll-off week, no pre-bowls.
Rule 17. WITHDRAWLS
Any member or team must give 2 weeks notice (written) to the captain and league secretary. The bowler must pay 2 weeks fee unless replaced by another bowler within that period. The Board of Directors provided that (A) No arrears exist may refund a member’s fees and (B) A replacement shall have prepaid 2 weeks bowling fees. The league will absorb any arrears because of loss of a team member.
Rule 18. PLAY-OFFS
Total pins out of 1 game shall determine the winners of any play-off for first place.
Rule 19. CONDUCT
There is a zero tolerance rule in effect when involving any matter of good sportsmanship and conduct. Abuse of bowling center equipment or profanity will not be tolerated. All bowlers shall wear appropriate clothing for a sporting event.
